About Wagon Box Leatherworks

The Wagon Box Brand has been there and done that, hailing from a long line of American Pioneers and frontiersman. The original Wagon Box Ranch was homesteaded during the great Western expansion of our country. Handmade Means Handmade

In today’s world the term handmade is common and, as such, has become a very diluted term. Handmade seems to mean “I operated the machine controls with my hands” now. Not so at Wagon Box Leather!

Wagon Box leather goods are “Old School” Handmade. Each item is hand cut, each stitching hole is hand punched, each stitch is hand stitched and each item is hand stained and finished. No modern sewing machines or fancy clicker dyes. Wagon Box products are 100% made by hand, the original American Way!

We are a very small leather shop and create our goods at an artist level pace. We generally get just a few days in the shop per week.  Our builder, Michael Buholz, keeps it this way on purpose, creating a true outlet for his passion without ever feeling the pressure of it being “Work”. Our items do take longer to build than some, but you can see and feel the quality in each finished Wagon Box Leather product.

Wagon Box Leatheworks Projects

Meet The Craftsman

Michael has been an avid outdoorsman most of his life. Spending most of his childhood fishing and shooting in the mountains of Colorado and exploring the family ranch in western Wyoming.
His interest in leather began just a few years ago, when going through an old trunk from the original Wagon Box Ranch, He came across a well-worn, handmade leather holster, made by a relative years and years before Michael was even born.
He vividly remembers the feeling of wonder and history wash over him while holding that family heirloom, wishing it could speak, and tell the stories of its previous owner, and its past.
Michael now spends his time creating beautiful sheaths, axe faces, and other leather products that he hopes one day will induce their own sense of wonder and history!
If you are looking for a hand-made, heirloom quality leather product, then get in touch with him today!
